Mitch Ackles is Founder and CEO of Hedge Fund PR, and a Director and Spokesman of Hedge Fund Association, a leading international nonprofit organization focused on advancing transparency, development and trust in alternative investments.
With over 20 years experience, Mitch has a global track record for excellence. He has executed winning campaigns for hedge funds, political and economic leaders, service providers, luminaries, conference organizers, charitable organizations and local, national and global hedge fund groups. Previously, Mitch was Marketing Director for vFinance, VP of Hedge Fund Capital Introduction for Global Partners Group and Worldwide Marketing Manager for Dow Jones TradeStation. Mitch holds a B.A. in PR and Communications, is fluent in English and Spanish, and actively manages reputations for the brightest minds and brands on Wall Street.
When raising visibility, his efforts have resulted in thousands of successes, including product and company awards, news articles, cover stories, speaking engagements, broadcast interviews, events, alliances, and product placements on TV and in books, blogs and movies. His contact network is coveted, and includes virtually every editor, reporter, producer, blogger, lawmaker and influencer that has used the term hedge fund. In times when a low profile is preferred, Mitch has insulated clients from press, influenced search engines, and provided guidance on communicating with media, investors, employees and counterparties.
Mitch is devoted to service, demonstrated by pro-bono support of non-profit organizations. As Hedge Fund Association Spokesman and Director, Mitch is an advocate for the entire hedge fund community. For HFA, he directs media relations and lobbying on Capitol Hill. Mitch also serves as the primary media contact for Hedge Funds Care, a global charitable organization which raises funds for programs that work to prevent and treat child abuse.
Jaye Scholl, VP of Hedge Fund PR, is the former West Coast Editor of Barron’s Business and Financial Weekly. An award-winning journalist, Ms. Scholl has written extensively about hedge funds for more than 25 years. She has interviewed hundreds of hedge fund managers, as well as the chief investment officers of corporate pension plans, public employee retirement systems, foundations, family offices, and endowments and service providers. More recently, she was a contributing writer at Alpha Magazine (now AR=Absolute Return+Alpha) where she wrote profiles of hedge fund managers and covered regulatory issues.
Ms. Scholl has also worked as a consultant and communications director in the hedge fund industry, assisting clients with written presentations for investors, quarterly conference calls, conferences, websites, and media and presentation training. She also conducted independent Wall Street research for investment management and risk analysis clients and has written business plans and initial public offerings for private equity firms. She has also conducted media training seminars in writing, editing, and presentation training for Fortune 500 companies.
Ms. Scholl holds FINRA Series 7 and Series 66 licenses. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Skidmore College. She is a graduate of Columbia University’s Knight-Bagehot Fellowship in Financial Journalism and is the contributing author of two books on financial journalism, Guide to Economics and Business Journalism and Writing about Business, both published by Columbia University Press, New York. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband and has three grown children.
William Thompson, Managing Director of Hedge Fund PR, previously held two C-level positions within print publications. He served as Chief Strategy Officer at a state-wide Florida lifestyle publication. While there, he developed a strategic growth plan that eventually led to the publication’s three-fold increase in circulation. After this, William went on to serve as Publisher and CEO of a start-up magazine for Ivy League Alumni and Student Leaders that focused heavily on the financial services industry and luxury lifestyles. There he placed advertising from top-tier luxury goods firms, worked with 5 New York Times bestselling authors and arranged for two international celebrities to be featured on the cover. Before entering the Publishing industry, William was a professional singer and recording artist. He holds both a BA in Music and an MBA in Marketing and International Business from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL. He resides in Miami, FL where he is actively involved with a number of charities and nonprofits such as Hedge Funds Care, The Heritage Foundation and The University of Miami Alumni Association.
